Patron is an EGF Golden because he is extremely high energy and had zero training. He came in as a stray from a dog sanctuary and had likely lived the first few years of his life with no structure or guidance. Patron needed a lot of structure and patience that was developed over several weeks in board and train which needed to be continued for many more weeks in foster care. Today, Patron is adopted and living with a great life with his adoptive family who adores him and continues to channel his energy in positive ways.
Patron's Story: Patron is a quick learner and enjoys cuddles. He attaches to his humans (very affectionate) and is always interested in everything going on around him. He responds well to positive support, is playful and very curious.
Patron enjoys playing tug and retrieving. He also loves to cuddle next to your chair and lay his head in your lap --- he’s basically a velcro dog with endless enthusiasm and curiosity. Patron loves activity, being with his "person" or "people” and is always ready for walks and outside activities.
Patron is getting much better on leash and the combination of rewards (praise and treats) combined with repetition seems to be working. He is extremely intelligent and responds quickly when he knows what you want. He will bark to let us know something outside is going on but responds well to a “thank you” for letting us know the neighbor is outside or a delivery person is here. Patron likes to cuddle on the couch or on the floor beside you as he is very connected to his people and loves being with them.
Update: June 15
Patron is a goofy, cuddly, food-motivated, curious boy. His foster mom says “Patron loves attention and loves to stay busy. He picks up on tricks and routines quickly and he is cuddly. He thinks of himself as a lap dog.” Patron is reliably housetrained, enjoys his crate and politely greets people with happy tail wags.
Patron likes to hang out by the frig or kitchen counter as he never knows what appealing morsel he’ll find. He rides well in the car wearing a seat belt and while Patron hasn’t been around water, we suspect he’ll enjoy it as he loves playing with the hose and shower water. Patron sleeps through the night but likes to wake up early. He enjoys lickmats, long-lasting chews and will self-entertain himself during the day while his foster mom works from home. If he gets bored, he’ll whimper for attention, remind you it’s time to get up or if it’s time to go outside. Patron is full of personality.
Ideal home: Patron needs a family who will take him outside to play a few times a day and provide ample exercise. He’d be great with an adventuresome single person or couple who enjoy walks, hikes, trips or just playing in a big backyard. While he hasn’t been with children, we suspect he’d be good with tweens or teens. Patron enjoys life so he’ll likely create some playful antics which you’ll need to laugh and take in stride. Patron is a fun boy. In return, Patron will be your lifelong companion and help you enjoy life to the max. Another young dog will likely be fine but he’s too much for senior, sedate dogs or small lap pups. Are you ready to bring a fun, happy guy into your life as if you are, Patron may be your boy?
