At Gold Ribbon Rescue, we believe every dog deserves a home that meets their specific needs — not just any available home. Our placement process begins with a thorough understanding of each dog’s temperament, medical history, behavioral characteristics, and environmental requirements. From there, we work to identify the applicant whose home, lifestyle, and capabilities align most closely with what that individual dog needs to thrive.
Placement decisions are driven by the dog’s needs first, then matched to applicant capabilities. While age preferences are noted, we do not place dogs solely based on the age an applicant desires. Age is one consideration among many, and it will never outweigh what is best for the dog.
GRR does not rank applicants or operate on a first‑come, first‑served basis. We recognize that this approach may require patience from prospective adopters, and we are committed to communicating openly and respectfully throughout the process. Our goal is lifetime placements — reducing returns, minimizing stress for both the dog and the family, and ensuring that each golden is set up for lasting success.
We absolutely take applicant preferences into account; however, we will ultimately match each dog to the approved applicant we feel can best meet that dog’s needs. We ask all applicants to remain open to trusting our process and to understand that the dog they initially hope for may not be the dog they are ultimately matched with.
