Champ is a handsome, high-energy Golden with a puppyish face and a silly sense of humor. He’s the kind of dog who wants to be wherever you are; Champ is a friendly and affectionate dog who needs a little polishing to shine his brightest. Champ enjoys kids and thrives on playtime. He’s social with other dogs and especially enjoys wrestling, tumbling, and bouncing around. Tug-of-war is a favorite game, and he will happily retrieve and play fetch, although he sometimes gets distracted and forgets about the game!
Champ enjoys neighborhood walks and backyard playtime, though he can get over-excited on leash, so continued leash-manner training will help him succeed. When Champ first arrived at his foster home, he was nervous initially (likely due to uncertainty), but once he settled in, he warmed up beautifully - especially with the resident dog. He’s proven himself to be a friendly, playful, and loving companion. If you’re looking for a handsome, high-energy dog who will keep you laughing, shower you with affection, and be your loyal sidekick, Champ might just be the dog for you.
Ideal Home: Champ’s ideal home would be an active household that can keep up with his playful puppy energy and provide daily exercise, structure, and consistency. It is possible he may need orthopedic surgery so a family that is able to take him through surgery and do rehab is ideal. He will need exercise restriction during the recovery period. He would thrive with age-appropriate children (10 and up) and/or another playful dog (though a canine sibling is not required). Because Champ is strong and still a puppy by Golden standards, he needs physically capable adopters who enjoy being interactive with him and can guide him as he continues to learn and grow. Could your family be the perfect match for Champ?
Medical Note: Champ has orthopedic issues; a treatment plan is in development, but will most likely include surgery.
