What does volunteering with Gold Ribbon mean? As an all-volunteer organization, we have no paid staff. The core group of volunteers who started this group are still in place and we have added many new faces along the way. We always need more volunteers. We’ve spent countless hours building the foundation and we've thoroughly enjoyed it all. We have a vision for the future and need your help to fulfill it.
We have worked hard to make a successful program for homeless Goldens in Central Texas. We invite you to join us in making an impact with the rewarding work that we do together.
Note: We do not have a shelter facility, so we don't need folks to walk, play or feed our dogs. All foster dogs are in an approved GRR foster home.
Transporting our dogs on their way to their new home is a vital step in our process. Our volunteers drive incoming dogs to a veterinarian or to get them to their new foster homes.
Help a special dog get more exposure or help us with fundraisers on social media. Facebook and Instagram are vital communication platforms for our rescue efforts.
Help us plan events and fundraisers in support of our rescue.
The Telephone Interview is needed after a foster or an adoption application is received. In this interview, you gain insight to the family's lifestyle and preferences in a potential dog.
After the Telephone Interview is completed, a Home Visit with your Golden or adopted GRR dog is scheduled with the potential family looking to adopt. This further assists Gold Ribbon to assess the family's environment and lifestyle.
Various communication platforms are used to help market our newsletters, marketing emails and fundraisers. We also communicate to our membership and spotlight our Goldens in need. Social media (FB and Instagram), emails and newsletters (Constant Contact) and our website all contribute to this effort.
Introduce a new dog to potential adopters based on various reports from foster families: his personality, his likes and dislikes and backstory.
Fostering a Golden is the greatest gift. You are the volunteer who evaluates a new dog while providing a loving and secure environment.
The first step in becoming a volunteer is to complete a Volunteer Application. This questionnaire is designed to help us get to know you, so that we can do our best to place you in a role where your skills will be best utilized, and your volunteer experience will be as rewarding as possible. Let us know how you would like to help. Once we receive your completed application our volunteer coordinator will be in contact with you to discuss what role may be best for you.
We hold volunteer orientation webinars every other month and hope you can attend the next one so you can learn firsthand about Gold Ribbon Rescue and the many different volunteer opportunities. Leadership, as well as experienced volunteers, are available at the webinars to provide a high-level overview of the organization.
Once we identify how you would like to help and how that aligns with current needs, our goal is to help you find the perfect fit. At that point we will match you with a team lead and you’ll be on your way to volunteering.
