Helping a Golden Retriever truly relax isn’t about wearing them out—it’s about giving them the skills to recover, settle, and feel safe in their environment. In this month’s webinar, Teaching Relaxation Skills: Helping Dogs Settle, Recover, and Self‑Regulate, the trainers from See Spot Behave will explain why recovery is more important than exhaustion and how calmness is something dogs can learn with gentle, consistent guidance.

We will explore what relaxation actually looks like, why some Goldens struggle to “turn off,” and how well‑meaning routines can accidentally build more excitement instead of helping dogs unwind.

The session focuses on simple, doable strategies that any adopter or foster can start using right away. You’ll learn how to guide your dog through structured relaxation reps, how to avoid unintentionally reinforcing frenzy behaviors, and how to build a daily rhythm that supports a reliable off‑switch routine. By the end, participants will feel more confident helping their dogs settle peacefully, recover after excitement, and navigate their new homes with greater ease.
