Inquisitive, energetic, loving and athletic is how Patron’s foster mom describes Patron.  He’s also intelligent, a quick learner and enjoys cuddles. Patron attaches to his humans (very affectionate) and is always interested in everything going on around him. He responds well to support (such as when seeing something unknown to him), is playful and very curious.

Patron enjoys playing tug and retrieving.   He also loves to cuddle next to your chair and lay his head in your lap --- he’s basically a velcro dog with endless enthusiasm and curiosity.  Patron loves activity, being with his "person" or "people” and is always ready for walks and outside activities. He demonstrates the ability to slow down and chill in house and gets lots of comments about being a "beautiful" dog when we are walking.

Patron is getting much better on leash and the combination of rewards (praise and treats) combined with repetition seems to be working when he sees other leashed dogs when on his daily walks. He is extremely intelligent and responds quickly when he knows what you want.  He will bark to let us know something outside is going on but responds well to a “thank you” for letting us know the neighbor is outside or a delivery person is here. Patron likes to cuddle on the couch or on the floor beside you as he is very connected to his people and loves being with them.

Patron will bring his harness to go for his walk in the morning, gets along great with the foster dog but would likely be too much for kitties.  While we have not seen Patron with children, teens would likely be OK but he’d be too active for younger children.

Ideal home:  Patron needs and enjoys an active lifestyle.  He’d be a good running companion for active adults and likely enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, agility and other activities.  Patron loves his humans so he bonds quickly and probably be frustrated if left alone all day.  He is a dog that loves being with his people and is very connected to them.    If you are looking for an active dog who is full of personality and will love exploring with you, Patron may be the right boy for you.  Please reach out to your matchmaker or submit an application to learn more.

Patron is an EGF dog because he came to GRR with absolutely no training and minimal socialization with other dogs.  We placed him with a trainer for several weeks to set him up for success with an adopting family.  While he’s still an active, young dog (as he should be), Patron has learned basic foundation training skills and ready for his forever family.

Update:  June 15

Patron is a goofy, cuddly, food-motivated, curious boy.  His foster mom says “Patron loves attention and loves to stay busy.  He picks up on tricks and routines quickly and he is cuddly.  He thinks of himself as a lap dog.”  Patron is reliably housetrained, enjoys his crate and politely greets people with happy tail wags.

Patron likes to hang out by the frig or kitchen counter as he never knows what appealing morsel he’ll find.  He rides well in the car wearing a seat belt and while Patron hasn’t been around water, we suspect he’ll enjoy it as he loves playing with the hose and shower water.  Patron sleeps through the night but likes to wake up early.  He enjoys lickmats, long-lasting chews and will self-entertain himself during the day while his foster mom works from home.  If he gets bored, he’ll whimper for attention, remind you it’s time to get up or if it’s time to go outside.  Patron is full of personality.

Ideal home:  Patron needs a family who will take him outside to play a few times a day and provide ample exercise.  He’d be great with an adventuresome single person or couple who enjoy walks, hikes, trips or just playing in a big backyard.  While he hasn’t been with children, we suspect he’d be good with tweens or teens.  Patron enjoys life so he’ll likely create some playful antics which you’ll need to laugh and take in stride.  Patron is a fun boy.   In return, Patron will be your lifelong companion and help you enjoy life to the max.  Another young dog will likely be fine but he’s too much for senior, sedate dogs or small lap pups. Are you ready to bring a fun, happy guy into your life as if you are, Patron may be your boy?

Updated May 28

Like the handcrafted premium Tequila, Patron will spice up your life and share many adventures with you.  Patron is a happy, exuberant boy that enjoys exploring the yard and loves to play tug-of-war and fetch.  He is smart and fun-loving and quite social. He is currently learning good manners and ways to control his adolescent personality with a trainer.

Patron is a medium to high energy dog.  He needs plenty of physical exercise and mental stimulation.  He is a strong and enthusiastic tugger.  Patron will play games of chase, wrestle and tug with other dogs.  He is currently working on jumping, proper greeting, recall, waiting at doorways, relaxing on a mat and getting into his harness.  Patron is doing well with his training.  You may watch a training video of Patron here.

Ideal Home:  Patron will do best with a relatively experienced family who is willing and able to safely handle a strong dog and provide ample exercise.  He’d be great with an adventuresome single person or couple who enjoy walks, hikes, trips or just playing in a big backyard.  You’ll need a sense of humor as we suspect he’ll create some playful antics that you’ll need to take in stride.  In return, Patron will be your lifelong companion and help you enjoy life to the max.  Another young dog will likely be fine but he’s too much for senior, sedate dogs or small lap pups.

If you are interested in spicing up your life, Patron may be your boy.  Please reach out to your matchmaker or submit an application to learn more.
