Personality: Mylee is a beautiful, intelligent Golden girl, but with a much, much deeper story. She is an unbelievable service dog for Ginger, her chocolate Labrador retriever best girlfriend. You see, her friend Ginger developed severe cataracts 5 years ago. In true Golden fashion, as a three year old pup, Mylee volunteered to become her constant companion and her “eyes”.  On walks, they use a dual lead, with Mylee side by side with Ginger, guiding her along the way.  But now, Mylee and Ginger’s parents must transfer abroad, and cannot take them along. Because of their close relationship, Mylee, Golden guide dog and Ginger, classic Lab need to be adopted as a pair with Gold Ribbon volunteers dedicated to finding their new home.

Beyond her guide dog duties, Mylee is a well-mannered girl, and gets along just fine with other dogs.  She grew up in a household with three other canines of various sizes and breeds, but felines are a whole different topic altogether. Mylee loves to chase cats!

Mylee also grew up getting attention from two teenage girls in the house, but she indicates that it did not change her taste in music! To show off her training, she responds to commands given both verbally and by gesture.

In the past, Mylee spent a great deal of time outdoors, but does fine inside, including being housebroken.  She loves good rubs, and is a sweet companion, but does not mind being left on her own as well.  Her energy level matches her adulthood and guide dog responsibilities, so she enjoys selecting toys from the toy box, and is into cuddling and chewing them, not retrieving them!

Ideal Home: Mylee would be best matched to a household with moderate activity levels, and would not mind sharing her space with other dogs. She is very intelligent and needs interaction with her peers (humans). She is one-half of an inspiring pair of dogs (with Ginger 15-095), and her chosen career as guide dog needs to continue in their new home. Watch for updates and more info on what would make an ideal forever family for them in the coming days.
