Personality: Jake is one outgoing, high energy Golden with gorgeous big brown eyes.

Jake's an owner turn-in who spent a big part of his young life stuck in confined spaces. He's eager to make up for lost time by engaging any creature in sight! Perhaps because of his time in the crate and limited interaction, he is short on socialization and extra high on the excitability scale.  Now that he is not as isolated, he is learning manners most dogs acquire in puppyhood.  When introduced to new people, he becomes hyperactive, and often jumps for joy.  With his foster’s guidance, he is learning the ropes of how to engage humans and other dogs appropriately. He roams his foster home with 2 dog companions and almost prefers them to his foster people

Jake craves being around his humans and his dog pals and is always up for a romp, fetch, or walk. Jake acts protective of his herd in unfamiliar situations but doesn't want to be an alpha dog. He'll happily adopt the routine of any new canine buddy. As far as the companionship gene, he flings himself into his foster’s lap at every opportunity. He's an affectionate goofball who happily leans into human legs for pets and even gives full hugs with his front arms. He likes to nap snuggled against his golden retriever foster buddy. Jake handles his foster's cat well and is not aggressive except for the occasional short pursuit.

Jake is perfectly house trained, and quickly mastered the doggy door to the backyard. Jake takes his breed’s name seriously, and loves to retrieve for hours.  As far as commands, he knows sit, down and can do puppy pushups like a pro. Jake's a formidable romping buddy: he's nimble as a cat and can run backward with crazy speed! He puts his 3yo GR foster sister to shame in the athleticism department!

Jake is up to date on all of his vaccinations and is blessed with great overall health.  This boy has a marvelous set of teeth resulting from his previous owner’s conscientious brushing. When he smiles his tongue flops out the side of his mouth.

Jake has lots of nervous energy in the car but is happy as can be indoors. He's mellowed a bit over time but still likes to be in the middle of all the action, being the best companion he can be!

Ideal Home:   Jake is happiest with constant companionship and needs a home with humans or dogs (or both!) around almost all of the time to complete his socialization process. He would adore another dog buddy and can handle cats. Ample time for fetching in the backyard is a must-have to fulfill his major league retriever aspirations. If you're looking for an exuberant buddy and canine BFF who can fetch with the best of them, Jake's your guy!
