Personality: In the largest international rescue by any rescue group in Texas, GRR is rescuing and rehoming orphaned Golden Retrievers from Turkey! Volunteers at many Istanbul shelters are working with Gold Ribbon Rescue as well as other golden retriever rescue groups in the US to help give these dogs a better life, including finding love and affection, a home to live in, needed medical care and a cushion to sleep on. Deep Eddy is one such lucky fellow, being rescued from a municipal shelter in Turkey before making the big trip here to Central Texas.
Deep Eddy’s foster parents have already fallen in love with him. A sweet note from his new parents is below:
“Although it's been a bit like having a toddler in the house for the first time as EVERYTHING is new and different, Deep Eddy (we call him Rocky cuz of his rocky start in life) is everything we hoped for and more! Not only is he gorgeous, he's got personality plus! He's very expressive too. He LOVES car rides! Finally, he's really made progress with our cats. At first he would go after them, but with several controlled introductions, they're beginning to enjoy each other.
He was obviously starved for human love and didn't want to let either of us out of his sight the first couple of days. It was hard for me to go to work each day too, as I wanted to stay and play with "my boys." But, he greets me every day when I get home with a whole body wag! He and I have our own quality time every morning before work. We walk/jog the neighborhood and in just a week he has learned to stay right on our left knee in a heel.
We knew we would love Deep Eddy, but I was unprepared for how much! After only a week, he has wormed his way into our hearts! And, I'm so glad God and GRR trusted us to be Rocky's forever home!!”
