Personality: Canyon is a high energy young girl, full of play and ready to test the limits set by her master, now that she is in Texas. Each new day is full of adventures, and she is ready to go when you are!  She goes full blast, high speed, until she is pooped, and then she is ready for a nap.  Just like the puppy she is!

At one year of age, she is discovering the wonders around her now in her new home, including swimming (not walking) across the pond. As a puppy, she is still getting into the synchronized rhythm of running alongside her master, but walking is just fine. Her manners during walks so far have been very good.

The challenges of tracking and chasing squirrels are right up her alley.  For Canyon, every squirrel is an exciting learning experience. What’s up with those squirrels?

Canyon is very social, and so far has melded with the two dogs in the fosters’ home just fine. She initiates races, tug-of-war and wrestling with the fosters’ dogs, and plays extremely well with them.  Since she was all alone on the streets of Istanbul, she is a work in progress with respect to training. However, she is very intelligent and food-motivated, so it appears training will not be difficult. She picked up on the “sit” command very quickly when rewarded with a treat, and is now fully engaged with holding that command and learning the other basics.

From her vet checkup, Canyon seems to be in remarkably good health, given her recent background.  She is a great example of the classic Golden personality being revealed, as she receives the loving care and companionship at GRR.

Ideal home: Canyon would most like an active home life, which includes progressive obedience training and interactive play time. A home with one or more other dogs is recommended, since she is very social and loves to initiate play with other dogs. No word yet on her feelings for cats. More details to come as she shows more of her character to her GRR foster parents.
