Benji (18-069) passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. We began fostering her on October 21, 2018 and ever since that day she was a ray of light in our lives. We ultimately ended up adopting her in January of 2019, and she was our best buddy from day 1 until we had to say goodbye.

We used to joke with everyone that met her that she was simply a well-behaved human who somehow got stuck in this fluffy little package because she never met a person she didn't love and was quite literally the best-behaved dog. She had TONS of personality, but it was all centered around loving everyone and everything around her. She had a way of leaving lasting impressions on people after only one interaction.

Over time, friends and acquaintances would ask us how Benji was doing before they asked us anything about ourselves, and we didn't blame them one bit.

We began fostering Benji when she was 10 pounds underweight and had both double eye and ear infections. We truly feel like every day we got to spend with her was even more special than the one before it, and her spirit never left even when her body finally started to give out.

I could go on and on about the endless list of wonderful qualities that Benji possessed, but the most important thing to remember about her is that she was the most loving creature we've ever known, and she was our best friend from the moment we got to meet her.

We feel so lucky that we got to spend her last 2+ year with her, and we only hope we made her half as happy as she made us.
