I'm ready for my new family!

Sunny

I'm Available

Update January 20:

Meet GRR’s Sunny, a handsome Golden who is learning new things and showing his personality after coming from his previous home as a breeding dog living primarily in a kennel. Sunny is sweet-tempered and somewhat low-maintenance. He enjoys being beside his people and will follow to find you if you leave his sight; Sunny is also responding well to positive reinforcement, redirection or waiting/watching as he navigates all of the new sounds, objects, people, etc. that he encounters day to day. Despite learning about many new things, Sunny has quite the silly side - he will strut around with a ball, loves to carry a toy around (even on his walks), and will fall asleep with a toy in his mouth at times! He loves treats, and will lay to be brushed for as long as someone will do so. Sunny does know how to retrieve, but doesn’t always release the toy afterwards (sometimes you have to offer another toy or treat for him to release what he has in his mouth). On a leash, Sunny walks like a gentleman - even in moments of being unsure due to environmental factors. He enjoys being outdoors and will patrol for squirrels or sniff around.

Ideal Home: For Sunny, an ideal home would be with a family who is patient and will allow him time to take things in as he builds confidence in himself, while also growing and being supported in the process. He is quite adaptable and trainable, and would make an excellent companion. It would be nice for Sunny if he had a family where someone could be home often. He’s a large dog so might not be the best match for older people or people with small children (just due to his size).  Sunny would be fine being an only dog, but does live with a resident foster dog who is older --- they are comfortable with each other and often nap within close proximity.  Sunny is loveable, outgoing, unsure (of new things), and mellow boy who loves and needs his walks in the morning and evening but afterwards, he is quite mellow.   Could Sunny be the perfect boy to brighten up your family?

Meet GRR’s Sunny who is acclimating to living inside after spending his entire life living outside as a breeding dog.  After coming into GRR care, it took several days for him to adjust to coming inside and typical house noises (vacuum, dishwasher, etc) were upsetting to him.  While somewhat timid with unfamiliar situations and different environments, Sunny wants to be with his humans and wants to please so he is making great progress and quite the indoor boy now.

Sunny is a lovable dog who wants to be connected to his humans.  His activity level overall is medium --- he enjoys walks, has very good leash manners and playing a game of catch in backyard  Sunny also enjoys just laying around with the family and being petted as he really wants to be part of the family.

This well-mannered  boy is truly a delight.  He loves to carry toys around and is especially fond of his red ball which he will carry during his entire walk.  As Sunny enjoys food, he loves toys that include food treats.  Unfortunately, Sunny is overweight so exercise and proper diet are essential for him.

Ideal Home:  Sunny needs a family that will be patient and allow him to become comfortable in a new environment.  He needs someone who will engage in activities such as playing ball in the backyard and taking him on regular, daily walks so a walking companion/buddy would be ideal.

Sunny likes people so someone who is home quite a bit and doesn’t mind his laying under your feet or cuddling on the couch.  Most of all, Sunny needs someone who wants to spend time with him, will support his learning new things and will develop a relationship of trust with him.  Sunny is such a super boy and deserves the most wonderful life.  Could you be Sunny’s forever family?

As we continue to learn more about Sunny, know that he may grow and change. Please talk to your matchmaker for the most updated information.
