Memphis is currently sponsored.
Memphis is a Forever Foster because he completely withdraws and is very fearful of new people or situations. Moving Memphis from his foster home would be extremely detrimental to him. Memphis came from a shelter in West Texas and from day one, he was not comfortable with new people or situations and wouldn’t come out of his crate as it was his ‘safe place.’
Memphis now comes out of his crate but his entire world is the Forever Foster’s house and backyard. Memphis enjoys his foster doggie siblings and they have helped him gain confidence and learn to trust. He doesn’t go on walks or car rides and doesn’t interact with new people. His foster dad is very calm, quiet and patient so Memphis now interacts and trusts his foster dad.
For the most part, Memphis is doing well. He is active, happy, playful and wags his tail a lot. He loves to be scratched and petted and will gladly come over and nudge or paw his foster to wake him up or for attention---if the foster is sitting or lying down. If standing, Memphis is hesitant to approach the foster. He sleeps by foster’s bed and has even gotten on the bed a few times and naps there with the other dogs.
Memphis is still hyper-vigilant. Any sudden noise or sound and he instantly tenses and goes into his fear mode, becoming nervous and frightened. With the foster’s assurances, Memphis will slowly calm down. Memphis is not your typical dog but he is enjoying life in his own way. We are thankful for his foster dad’s patience and love in getting this sweet boy this far.
