My name is Champ. I’m only 16 months old, but some days… my body feels much older. I have dysplasia in every major joint, and one of my hips is so damaged that my doctors say a total hip replacement is the best chance I have right now. Gold Ribbon Rescue has been told that the cost of my surgery is about $10,000.

I watch other dogs run and play, their legs flying like they’re chasing the whole world. I want that. I really do. But when I try to keep up, a sharp pain burns through my hip, and my back leg gives out. So I slow down. I sit. I pretend I’m okay because I don’t want anyone to worry.

Dogs are good at hiding pain… but that doesn’t mean we don’t feel it.

I’ll be honest with you: sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get to live the life I dream about — one filled with long walks, soft grass under my paws, belly‑up sunbathing, and running so fast my ears flap like goofy golden flags.

My doctors told Gold Ribbon Rescue that my hip is severely damaged — far worse than any young dog should face. Without help, my future will be filled with pain. But with a total hip replacement, everything could change. I could finally have a real chance at a happy life. A forever‑family future. A life where I can move freely, play gently, and grow into the carefree puppy I try so hard to be.

I’m holding onto hope. And I’m dreaming of the day my pain is behind me.

Love,
Champ
