Crockett is a Forever Foster because he has a liver mass measuring 6-6.5 cm in diameter, a scrotal mass consistent with testicular cancer and cardiac issues. A cardiac consultation showed Crockett has a higher grade Atria/Ventricle blockage along with ventricular arrhythmias (premature ventricular contractions).
Unfortunately, the two cardiac issues complicate giving him medications that are safe for both issues. Due to the condition of his heart, putting Crockett under anesthesia will carry a very high risk and his cardiologist did not recommend it which means he’s not a candidate for liver surgery.
After exploring all options, we believe the best option for Crockett is to keep him comfortable, loved and enjoying life for as long as possible. That's what Crockett is doing with daily walks and lots of hugs, love and attention from his Forever Foster family. We love you sweet boy.
Meet GRR’s Crockett, a distinguished gentleman who will certainly steal your heart! Crockett has good manners and is as sweet and loving as they come. Sadly, Crockett’s previous owner passed away, leaving him in search of a new family to cherish and adore him. Being the quintessential Golden Retriever that he is, Crockett is easy going and laid back, he enjoys naps on the cool tile floor, likes to retrieve toys, and likes to be close to you at all times (although he does not get underfoot). Overall, he is fairly low energy, but he does have bursts of excitement and goofiness that will bring a smile to your face! Crockett enjoys going on walks and has a ball being out and about! He cannot get enough belly pats and delights in being brushed - he will even give a bark in protest when the brushing stops! Crockett is described as friendly, playful, curious and cheerful!
Ideal Home: Crockett deserves a home where his people have lots of time to spend doting on him each and every day. A family who can take him on daily walks and provide him with opportunities to play (when he is in a silly mood) would be great for Crockett. This sweet soul would likely do well with a smaller family or with a couple - no matter what, he needs a family who can appreciate him as he is truly a treasure! Crockett would do fine as an only dog or be okay with another canine companion. Could Crockett be the perfect addition to your family?
