Can I crash at your place for a little awhile?
We have foster opportunities to fit all types of families and lifestyles. You can offer short-term, respite, longer term foster care as we find a dog its forever home or serve as a permanent foster for one of our senior or hospice dogs.
We appreciate you wanting to foster a Golden Retriever. For us to find the right foster dog for you, we need you to submit a foster application. There is no application fee for foster homes. We only place dogs in homes for people living in Austin/San Antonio and the surrounding central Texas areas.
A volunteer will contact you to schedule a telephone interview which will take approximately 45-60 minutes. This interview provides us with more information on the right dog for your lifestyle. All applicants and should participate in this interview.
A volunteer will contact you to schedule time for a personal home visit. The home visit will take approximately 60 minutes and the volunteer will bring his/her Golden or GRR dog to the visit. The home visit gives you a chance to ask many questions and learn more about the Golden Retriever breed.
All residents of the home must be present during this visit. All resident dogs must be present as well. In some cases, we may require non-resident persons who will have regular and/or extensive interaction with the dog to be present at the home visit.
Our Intake team will contact you when we have a Golden who needs a foster home. We'll tell you all that we know about the dog and you can decide to foster or to pass.
