“Wait! That’s not a golden retriever,” you may be saying. Well, Olivia, a black lab mix, was brought in with her Golden buddy, Orsino (Riley). The owner who was reluctantly turning them in said the two dogs were closely bonded. But our experts at GRR have since determined after some time in foster care that these two sweeties would better grow to their own potential and bond easier with their humans if they were separated.

Personality: True to her retriever roots, Olivia absolutely loves to retrieve tennis balls, toys, Frisbees…anything you want to throw. She’s so fast she’s like a black bullet streaking across the yard. She would likely take to the wide openness of dog park or any open space. When she retrieves she shows no possessiveness and either drops the ball or allows it to be taken from her mouth. God girl!

Olivia has had only one accident in the house and is consequently free to roam without the confines of a crate. She loves to rough house with her golden retriever friend, but plays gently with humans. Olivia is curious and gentle around children, but has had no exposure to cats. Olivia is very partial to Milk Bones and a Kong filled with peanut butter.

Ideal Home: Olivia’s forever family needs to help her expend some of that energy she has with daily walks and games of fetch. She does have a   propensity to dig at the fence line, so potential families need to be aware and have a nice and secure, tight fence and also be prepared to secure any gaps with extra boards, rocks or anything that will be a deterrent to digging.

Olivia is an extremely gentle dog and low maintenance (with some occasional barking at squirrels thrown in).
