Merle was rescued from Palm Valley via Schertz to North Austin. Poor Merle's coat was infested with ticks, but this did not stop this little angel of Golden from greeting her GRR heroes with wag and a smile. It's like she knew her nightmare was about to be over.

Personality: Sweet Merle has had a couple of accidents in the house, but she is trying and learning quickly to get past whatever living conditions she endured before GRR saved her. She's also taking steroids for her skin condition from the ticks, and those could be the culprit that keeps her from making it outside to go potty. Despite this she is trustworthy enough to be free to roam her foster home. She's a happy dog now and adores children. She likes to play, especially with other dogs, but she's had no exposure to cats.

She's a dream in the car and has no issues on the leash during walkies. Retrieving? Well, at this point Merle will happily run after the ball, but if you want it back you better get it yourself! (Maybe that's part of the game for her!)

Merle is calm during our central Texas thunderstorms and at night she sleeps close by through the night.

She totally approves of grooming and loves baths, which might indicate that she would like swimming. However, she hasn't been around anything but bath water yet, so we don't know for sure.

Right now, when she goes outside to do her business, Merle needs several minutes to get around to it and needs someone to be with her and perhaps "egg her on."

Ideal Family: A family with older kids and perhaps another dog would be ideal for Merle, as she loves to be around dogs. But she is so easy going, she'd fit in well in any home.
