Honey had been passed from her original owner to his brother and turns out the brother is allergic to Honey and could not keep her, although he said she is the best dog. The brother did not want Honey back, so GRR stepped in. Honey is heartworm positive and had to have several lumps removed from her body but is doing great now.

Personality: According to the GRR folks who have met honey, honey is as sweet as her name implies. Her foster mom says she is totally housebroken and thus is free to roam the house unchaperoned.

When she encounters children on her walks she gets very happy, although on these walks she does pull a bit on the leash. Honey does play well with other dogs. Retrieving is not her thing, but perhaps she considers it “child’s play” since she is a lady-like senior citizen.

Honey is very calm in the house and loves playing with stuffies. Thunderstorms don’t seem to bother her, and she always sleeps through the night. She gets a bit wiggly at grooming time and she doesn’t like her paws touched.

As mentioned before, Honey is so, so sweet and she also has great energy for an older dog. If she wants to be petted, she is not one to give up easily, either pawing at her foster mom or using that nose to get under the hand.

Ideal Home: Honey needs someone who isn’t necessarily looking for a jogging partner, but just a loving companion. They should be willing to take her on daily walks and see her through her heartworm treatment (at GRR’s expense).
