Confetti

What better way to end a record rescue year, filled with high-speed dog-nabbing, than with a last-minute New Year’s Eve Golden? The shelter sent a quick e-mail: “Spayed, nice girl, do you want to eval? Just dropped off here. Relative  left dog with surrendering owner several months ago, never came back for her. We close at 5 today & closed tomorrow.” A few hours later the 5-year-old girl in question—#09-208, our very last Golden of the year—was napping at her foster home. The shelter told us her name was Goldie, but she definitely needed something catchier than that! “Confetti” sounded just right—festive & fun for the holiday season and a very happy New Year. “Now, bring on the champagne… and the loaded buffet table,” says Confetti. Her foster mom comments, “She is slightly underweight & ravenous. Owner said he couldn't afford her... I suspect she may have missed some meals.”

Confetti is housebroken and trustworthy loose in the house. For all she’s so hungry, she takes treats like a lady. And though she was a bit overwhelmed by her seven foster siblings at first, within a day she was doing great with everyone. She isn’t wrestling with any of the other dogs yet, but she does like to follow along with them & join in their fun. (No cats at her foster home, but owner reported she chases cats.)  She’s excellent in the car... calm... loves car rides. Wonderful during baths.  One of the best bath takers, ever!

This Golden girl enjoys cuddling on any available lap. And, “I’ve spotted her luxuriating on our bed with her tennis ball, acting as if it’s the most wonderful place in the world. She was absolutely in Heaven up there, stretching & rolling around & playing with her ball.   I’m sure she would love to sleep in bed with her family, but at our house she sleeps babygated in the master bathroom.  Confetti is a wonderful houseguest & very easy to be with.  We really enjoy her. No worries at all!  She is doing great and would be a treat for just about any household.”
