Daphne
Update 01/02/10
After a little initial stress (all that moving around is unsettling!), 3-year-old Daphne is settling in nicely at her foster home. She may be petite, but she sure has a big Golden personality! She is sweet and loving, and loves to carry fuzzy toys and tennis balls around. We’re keeping her quiet for the time being, as she just had spay surgery, but once she can cut loose & kick up her heels, we think she’ll be an active, fun dog—she’s a young thing, after all, and her original owners told us that she loves to retrieve and swim. Daphne knows when to take it easy and rest, though; she’ll lie quietly near her people without getting underfoot.
It’s clear that Daphne came from a caring home—she has excellent manners. She is housebroken and responds immediately to her name and basic commands. She hasn't tried to counter-surf or beg for food, she sleeps quietly through the night, and she’s eager to please and has the potential to be a great obedience or agility dog. She travels well in the car and loves to be groomed, and we know she’s great with kids—she grew up with little ones.
Daphne would make a perfect companion for a family looking for an active, playful dog who also knows when to be calm and quiet. She is a perfect lady!
I NEED A FOSTER HOME
Here’s a wonderful pair of young Goldens, all ready to move into your home! Blonde Daphne, age 3, and her friend Scooby, age 4, are great with kids—“wonderful!” says their owner. “I love to watch them play with the kids.” Unfortunately, the newest baby in the household is terribly allergic to dogs, so the two former indoor pets are having to live outside until a new home can be found. Scooby is a typical nice, big, friendly, happy guy. Daphne is a petite blondie, just a little bit shyer than her friend. We’d love to bring them in soon. They’re good with other dogs, but we don’t have any info about cats – no kitties in the household.
If you can give either of these great dogs a home—foster or forever—for the New Year, please e-mail surrender2@grr-tx.com. If you are already an approved GRR foster or adoptive home, that’s a plus, but if you aren’t, just visit http://www.grr-tx.com/adoption/index.html, read through the information, and fill out the adoption application (the applications for adopting and fostering are exactly the same). We will do our best to speed you through the process!
