Piper
The Pied Piper of fairy-tale fame could get anyone to follow him, just by playing his magic flute. The Golden Piper of GRR has the same irresistible charm, only more so – because HE attracts everyone with personality alone! This young fellow showed up stray, and when nobody came to claim him, the shelter asked GRR for help. The report? “Gorgeous, 88-pound, heartworm negative, exuberant, curious, approximately 2-year-old, red male Golden Retriever. He’s at our house already and will be our guest until his vet date tomorrow.”
In foster care, Piper has earned rave reviews. He’s a big sweetie who loves to cuddle and clamber on the couch or bed (even though it can be a rather tight squeeze!). He’s got lots of pep and go and loves to play with other dogs. Regular exercise is a must to keep him happy. He’s big boned & tall, and can be a little mouthy (he’s not biting, just “grabbing” the way young dogs do), so tiny kids are not a good match for him – he can knock them down without even knowing it! He’s been fine with some cats but quite dedicated to chasing others, so it’s best if he goes to a no-cat household.
Piper is totally housebroken and a good car rider. He doesn’t require crating (and has a hard time fitting in the usual size of crate anyhow!), but it’s a good idea to keep tempting items off the counters and floor – he does like to check everything out.
Handsome Piper loves pets from anyone and is quite the social fellow. If you’re a no-cat family who likes to stay active (and if children in the family are past the tiny stage), please come meet Piper!
