Fritz

Update: 11/01/09:

Hooray! Fritz/Fred is feeling so much better and is all ready to find his perfect family. Just to recap Mr. Wonderful’s many good points:

* EXCELLENT with children. His foster family has a 3-month-old, and Fred is very careful around the little one, never too excited or jumpy.

* Plays well with his Golden foster brother, who’s an older (but still peppy) fellow – but a young, super-active dog might be a bit much for him.

* Perfect with cats. Saw a cat at the vet’s and was just inquisitive; saw a cat at the neighbors’ house and it was the same thing – polite interest, but no aggression or intent to chase.

* Good car rider; goes to sleep.

* Never pulls on leash! Just goes for a well-mannered walk like a dog should. (:

* Loves petting, but isn’t pushy; when not getting his head scratched, he’ll just settle down on his bed.

* Good appetite now! Polishes off his meals at one go.

* Totally housebroken, no accidents

* No crating required. Completely trustworthy!

* Entertaining in his quiet way; it’s hard to describe, but sometimes he just makes you laugh with a goofy look or pose.

* The perfect Golden for a family who wants a friendly, laidback, calm (but not timid or shy) dog – the ideal buddy for housework, gardening, strolls around the neighborhood, TV watching, studying, you name it!

 “I just got a call from Animal Control asking if we can help with this guy. They say he is super sweet, great with kids and other dogs. They are packed full and would like to see him moved ASAP… I went out there and nabbed him! He was scared when we walked through the kennel area to get to the office.  Was scared in the office but relaxed outside and wanted to get in my car.  He is a sweetie. Curled up in the back seat and slept the whole way to the vet. He is going to be a wonderful dog for some family.”

It’s all true! Fritz (called “Fred” by his foster family) is a mild & mellow Golden who’s great with other dogs and fantastic with small children—his foster folks have a two-month-old baby. He’s completely trustworthy loose in the house. He arrived in  foster care with bad ear infections and tummy upset, but as he’s feeling better his energy is picking up and that tail is starting to wag more and more. In another week or so he should be ready to move into his forever home.
