Samson
No sooner had Ozzie and Harriet appeared running stray than another boy-girl pair arrived at the shelter. Six-year-old Samson and his 3-year-old friend Delilah are both so pretty and well socialized that we waited with complete confidence for an owner to come in and claim them. It didn’t happen—and another two Goldens, the first dogs of July, arrived in GRR care. Unfortunately, both dogs have heartworms, but that’s nothing we can’t fix!
Samson’s foster family sends this early report:
Samson just arrived in our home a day ago, but he has already shown us that he is a mellow fellow who enjoys playing with the pack or chilling out with his foster family. He must have been a house dog in his former life: he is already housebroken, and he had a good time checking out every room and every corner of our house. One funny thing about this guy is that he really seems to like stairs and just going up and down them! He knows the commands SIT, STAY, and COME, and he even goes to his crate when you say “crate.” He gets along well with the other two Goldens in the house.
Right now Samson loves just snoozing on the couch or in his crate as he recuperates from his neuter surgery, but his wagging tail tells us that he will be ready to chase Frisbees and tennis balls in no time (though he will have to settle for very gentle games until his heartworm treatment is complete)! For now he is happy sitting next to his foster family and being petted or brushed.
