Mom and dad asked me to email you a little note and pix
of Brooklyn. He is
now 47 pounds and gaining.
Straight from Brookie's mouth:
I love it here! My new family is very loving. I get lots of hugs and kisses.
And, I REALLY enjoy my backyard where I hunt birds and squirrels with Abby
the bossy springer spaniel. Tucker the cocker is my play and snuggle buddy.
I haven't figured out the cats yet, so I just steer clear of them. I even
have a personal chef. I love the food here. I get two meals a day, and I
have started putting some weight on. I am very happy here. Thanks Gold
Ribbon Rescue!
Love,
Brookie
Not much new to report about Brookie, but it’s all good! He is doing very well, has tons of energy. He does want to wolf his food, so now he eats from a big bowl that is divided into four sections, and that has helped some. Otherwise all is great.
What a huge difference
just 10 days have made! A million thanks to all who have offered their support
and good wishes for these four dogs and for all our other Goldens in need. We
are so grateful to each and and every one of you.
Molly, Brookie, Cherry, and Cindy have put on weight already, largely from
having their fluids restored, we think—but their appetites are more than
excellent, too. In fact, they are still so worried about not getting enough food
that they get very excited at mealtimes, and it’s tough to get them NOT to bolt
their meals! We know that in time, they’ll settle down and realize that they’ll
always have plenty to eat. But for now, all the dogs are having their meals away
from the other household canines–either in their crates or behind a baby
gate—just to let everyone relax.
Little Brookie, now tipping the scales at about 42 pounds (he weighed 32 at
intake), runs and jumps and loves to play fetch. His foster mom says:
When we first brought Brookie home, he was extremely timid and scared the first
couple of hours. I realized that he was a lap puppy when I was petting him and
he put his paws on the couch and then crawled in my lap and shook and panted for
a long time. Later that evening Gary held him for a long time, and he finally
stopped shaking. At night he jumps up on the bed and settles right between us
and is so quiet and sweet that it just melts my heart. It makes him feel safe,
I’m sure. Probably a bad habit to get into, but I feel that he really needs that
closeness now!
Now that he is more settled with us, we’re learning that he’s got an outgoing
personality, and he’s really friendly with the neighbors. He’s calm in the
house, which is amazing, because this little guy has lots of energy and he runs
like the wind. He really loves retrieving; as soon as we go out, he looks to me
for the ball. He’s a clever one; he saw our Bucky drink from the bathroom faucet
(something he has done all his life), so now when we go into the bathroom he
goes to the faucet there. He is a super wonderful dog. So cheerful and
affectionate! Anyone wanting a loving, pint-size Golden will adore Brookie.
