Hi GRR! We have had our wonderful Grover for six months and he is just the world's best dog. We are thrilled to have him in our home and he makes us smile everyday. As predicted by his foster parents, he is quite the star in the neighborhood and draws a crowd wherever he goes. We love to take him to the dog park and on the Salado Creek trail where he gets to meet all kinds of people and pooches. This year we are hoping to get him involved as a pet therapy dog as his personality with people is just wonderful. Many, many people have offered to give him a home if ours does not work out, which I don't think will happen - too bad for them! Here are some pictures of Grover. Isn't he just gorgeous?! Thank you, GRR, for bringing this wonderful boy into our lives. Sincerely, Elise & Justin

Update 5/2
Rover
Grover is just a wonderful fella! (I suspect he got lost by roving; what we may
never know is why or how he got away from his original home.) We had the
opportunity to “cat test” him this weekend, since we did a home visit at a
two-cat household—and Grover passed with flying colors. One cat was in the
living room and, at the sight of an approaching large Golden, began hissing,
spitting, bristling… all Grover did was tentatively stretch forward to try and
take a sniff! Kitty beat a hasty exit, at which point cat #2 entered in the
owner’s arms. As soon as she put this kitty down, Grover began pulling on his
leash—NOT to get to kitty, to get to the owner for petting! He’s a real people
lover. Cats just aren’t that interesting. (:
He loves
car rides and jumps right up into the backseat in the van, then settles down
comfortably. No tendency to be carsick. (If the generous helping of kitty kibble
he snatched at our home visit did not make him sick on the ride back home, I
doubt that anything will.)
Grover has
a soft personality and would thrive in a quiet household… but he is so outgoing
& friendly he’s guaranteed to draw a crowd of admirers whenever you have him out
for a walk. He’s got average energy. Wonderfully content to have his people
around but he’s fine alone for for long periods, too. Anyone who wants a really,
really nice dog is going to love this one!
Gregarious Grover was found stray and taken to a local shelter. Time was up, so
GRR quickly nabbed Mr. Sociability and whisked him to his foster home. Here is
the (glowing) first-day report:
We really like Grover. He is one
friendly guy. He slept quietly in
the crate all night. Phew.
One never knows what the first night with a foster dog will be like.
He is not a large dog, but he is quite barrel-shaped and strong.
He is just so friendly! He’s very happy and excited when people approach
him, and he’ll come up to you, too, and sit right down for petting. He really
likes attention. He knows SIT,
DOWN, and maybe more. He is a such a likable guy… the kind of dog you’d call "a
typical Golden." For the time
being, as he settles in, he’s baby-gated in the laundry room. He only potties
outside—and when we are in the backyard, he wants to come inside and hangs out
by the back door. Seems like he may have been an indoor dog.
I gave him a bath right after bringing him home from the shelter, and he stood
still for that. He is neutered, and
I suspect that was done long ago.
Ears look good. Had all his shots and HW test (negative) at the shelter.
He is in good shape!
Did I say how friendly, friendly he is?
