Adopted

Lucy/Ripley

I've attached some pictures of Ripley (previously "Lucy").  Please let me know if they don't come through, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't.  Below is a little update on how Ripley is doing in her new home:

It has almost been 1 month since we adopted Ripley from GRR and I am happy to say that Ripley is adjusting well in her new home.  She seemed a bit timid at first as she was probably figuring out her new environment and "parents"; she was very well cared for in her foster home, I can't blame her for being a little unsure in a yet another new place.  However over the past few weeks she has really blossomed and come into her own.  We are seeing glimpses of her cute and funny personality and are so glad she is now part of our little family.

Even though Ripley is still somewhat a puppy, she is very mature--no chewing on anything but her bones and rawhide chews and she is very sweet and laid back.  A little obedience training is in her near future and we have no doubt that she will be a star pupil!  She has mastered "sit" and almost mastered "stay" in the short time that she has been with us, she is a very smart girl and catches on quickly.  We are pleased to report that at a recent vet appointment the doctor informed us that her weight is normal and with continued good nutrition her coat will soon have a glossy finish.  Considering the condition she was in when she arrived at her foster home, that is wonderful news.  She enjoys daily walks and fetching the ball in the backyard.  And her favorite toy is "Urtle the turtle", which she grabs as soon as we come home.  It seems to be her invitation to play.

Ripley has completely won over her adopted dad--although open minded about having a dog, not ever having one, he was a little unsure of what to expect  However I think he is finally realizing the joys of having a dog as a member of the family, particularly a golden.  But then again, Ripley makes it pretty easy to fall in love with her....

Just one last note to GRR--we are so thankful for the hard work and dedication you put towards placing goldens in loving and forever homes.  We could not have asked for a better dog than Ripley and I think she is quite happy in her now home.  Also, thank you to Candace, Ripley's foster mom for taking such good care of her and answering my questions regarding her care.  We appreciate everything you have done for Ripley!

original posting:

As our volunteers were collecting Gabriel and his friends, they spotted two MORE Goldens at the shelter. The first, 1 1/2-year-old LUCY, had been found on a tie-out at an empty house with her two mixed-breed puppies… and no food, water, or owners in sight. Thankfully, the pups were big enough to be adopted out, and Lucy came to GRR. “Loves to entertain herself. Enjoys it when I throw toys—she jumps on them and brings them back to be thrown again. Loves to be brushed.  Climbs right into the bathtub when I need to bathe her. Active, friendly, totally housebroken, sleeps right through the night.” In short, a winner!
