Rocky...
Rockefeller’s
my name... playin’s my game.

You should know first off that my foster family thinks Rockefeller is too hi-falutin’ a name for a down-to-earth dog like me... soooo... they call me Rocky. When I asked my foster mom what important things people should know about me, she had a few remarks—the most important one of all being that I just can’t wait to find my forever home! I want a family of my own very very much, and I will be a terrific addition to any family lucky enough to adopt me.

Here’s some more about me:
* I am so sweet-natured and playful.
* I am curious and interested in the people and animals around me.
* I am not sure about this game called “fetch.” Let me explain it to you: my foster family takes a perfectly good toy, waves it around in front of me, gets me all excited—and then throws it away. (?? Does this make sense to you?) They keep telling me something… I suspect they want me to go get the toy, but I can’t really figure out why. If I stand there long enough, though, my human friends will go and get it for me, and then we do the game again. Training humans is fun!
* I am very good with kids and love to play tug o’ monkey with them. Sometimes when we play I get a bit excited and my mouth finds an arm or hand instead of the monkey, but I really am working hard on my aim! My aim is great when it comes to giving big wet sloppy kisses, however. I can find any nose or mouth in one second flat and share the love—but if you push me away, I understand and won’t pester you.
 I do love to be loved on. If you invite me onto the sofa with you, I will lie down sort of half in your lap and place my head where it can receive the most pets. If you invite me into your bed, I will sleep curled up with you all night long. (Just ask my human foster buddy—he’s an 11-year-old boy and we love cuddling up together at night. He tells me secrets and I keep them. I am really good at keeping secrets. I love having kids to cuddle with and play with.)

Now what else? Oh! IMPORTANT: I really really need a family who will take walks with me. Our daily exercise really keeps me settled down and focused on making my foster family happy, which is what I love to do more than anything else in the world. If I go two days or more without some kind of walk... well... all my pent-up energy gets the better of me and I have a hard time focusing and listening. But that aside, I am so eager to please! I get along well my 14-year-old shepherd mix foster buddy and the 17-year-old cantankerous cat. I think the cat misunderstands me. I want to play with him but he acts like I am the world’s worst pest and just swats at me... and believe me, I get that message. When the cat is grumpy, I walk away. My biggest obsession in my foster home is the two noisy parakeets—the bird dog in me can’t seem to shake their hypnotizing effect on my brain. So I might not be well suited to a family with pet birds, or I will at least need some long-term consistent training to learn to leave them alone.

Other impressive facts about me include: I am housetrained. I am not a particularly boisterous barker but will make myself heard when the need arises. I sleep through the night. I do fine in a crate once I am in but don’t particularly like getting in there. I don’t jump up on humans unless invited. I understand the basic commands of SIT, STAY, and LIE DOWN. I am good on a leash when an adult holds the reins; kids let me pull more often. I love people. I love to play. I love other animals.

Won’t you please let me come into your home and love you? I will work so hard to make you happy that you will never regret taking me in!
