ADOPTED

Rupert is a handsome, happy, friendly dog who is so excited about now having new friends, regular meals, baths and being indoors. He was rescued as a stray from Town Lake Animal Center. As a result, he eats every meal and drinks his water as if it was his last chance.

This guy likes everybody and follows you wherever you go in the house. Rupert has a great sniffer. His nose leads the way. There are no secrets from Rupert. If he can smell it, he can find it. And, he likes love and attention - if you don't pet him long or often enough, you're sure to get a lick and nose nudge. Rupert knows to 'sit' and fetch. He is completely housebroken and likes his crate.

Rupert likes to go places. He's an excellent traveler. He loads right up and lays down quietly to enjoy the ride. When we are out and about, Rupert walks well on the leash.

"Have toy, will travel", is Rupert's motto. He has the best time with his toys and likes to carry them around. He also plays well with other dogs and believe it or not, he'll even share his toys with the cats. Rupert's idea of a good day is lying on his back, spread eagle in the sun, with a toy in his mouth. It simply doesn't get any better than that.

Rupert will make a great best friend and family friend. He's an excellent listener and always smiling.

Rupert is awesome. He is my best friend, and loves people, other dogs
and kitties. He is coming upstairs as I speak and slobbering on me. I am
so thankful that I found him, after Regis, my golden that I rescuued,
died at 13 years. I will write up something and send. Thanks to all of
you who do what you do.

Update on Rupert (#04-075), adopted from Gold Ribbon Rescue:

Rupert, oh, what can I say. He is a handful, but what a wonderful Golden. He is huge and has a heart as huge as he is. 95 lbs., solid as a rock.  Big as he is, when I feed him, he eats every morsel one piece at a time. The vet and his groomer say he is the best & they don’t have to tell me that. He sleeps with me and because he is so large, I have to arrange my sleeping position in the bed around him.

After his morning meal, we have to have a peanut butter snack inside the Kong toy and then he is fine.

Rupert protects me when the doorbell rings, but also knows when it is someone that I know, especially the UPS Man. Most importantly, when I or anyone in my family enters the room, he smiles and I am not talking about a small smile, it is all over his face. I must take a photo and forward. Rupert spends each Wednesday with my 82-year-old Mom and he lies at her feet, giving her the love and attention that she needs. I would strongly suggest that every family in America adopt a Golden. They are absolutely the most unbelievable animal in the world. More to come.
